Minnesota Well-Being – MN Well-Being
The Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) intentionally invests in creating opportunities in partnership with communities for all people to have access to well-being resources and for organizations to create equitable, healthy, and positive conditions for happiness and mental health.
SHIP Strategic Directions
- Increase opportunities for healing, social connection, and belonging by creating policy, systems, and environmental changes
- Build mental well-being and resiliency within communities
Chisago County Well-Being Partnerships and Projects:
Chisago County SHIP partners with schools, workplaces, health care systems, and the community to create well-being policies, infrastructure, programs, and activities. If you or your organization would like to discuss how Chisago County could support you, email [email protected]
Schools:
Chisago County works with school districts to provide mental health, resilience, and well-being resources and trainings. Chisago County SHIP staff are available to join wellness committees to help review and strengthen policies. Examples of Chisago County’s well-being work with schools includes, but is not limited to:
- Incorporating social connection to reframe policies and systems to ensure belonging
- Consultant support to build trauma-informed principles through planning, activities, and equipment
- Develop, build upon, or support Social Emotional Learning climate including staff training, calming room materials, and curriculum support
- Providing training on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and resiliency
- Supporting students with chronic conditions, such as asthma, disorder eating, oral health, and diabetes
- Supporting setting up a space for telehealth services
Previous school partnerships & projects:
- Increased availability of sensory tools for students in the classrooms and sensory integration rooms
- Assisted with implementation of sensory hallways for students to allow for more structured brain breaks
- Provided Social Emotional Learning curriculum and training
- Connected and supported MoveMindfully Social Emotional Learning trainings for teachers and students to build self-regulation and resiliency skills and learn about coping with stress and anxiety
- Provided support for Trauma Informed Certification and Mental Health First Aid
Community Sites:
- Building trauma-informed principles within organizations through presentations and resources
- Providing training on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and resiliency
- Activities related to social connection and / or belonging within the community
Previous community partnerships & projects:
- Providing training on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and resiliency
Workplaces:
- Reframing policies and systems to ensure belonging
- Optimizing support for employee well-being through flexible scheduling, paid family leave, telecommuting, peer support networks, imbedding well-being practices into orientation
- Building trauma-informed principles through trainings for leadership and staff
- Train-the-trainer programs around Mental Health First Aid
- Developing quiet/calming rooms and policies to support use of the space
Previous workplace partnerships & projects:
- ACE and Resiliency presentations to Health and Human Services staff
- Adding lockers for volunteers and employees to have a place to secure their belongings
- Developed calming spaces where lactation spaces are being implemented
Healthcare:

- Building community-clinical linkages for Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
